When the desired mental state deviates greatly from the current state, the  chaining  anchor pattern can help.

Current State →

1st Intermediate State →

2nd Intermediate State →

Desired State.

Step 1: Initiate a downtime state. #

Step 2: Establish rapport. #

Step 3: Set the frame. #

Step 4: Recognize and name the undesirable current state. #

Step 5: Choose a positive and resourceful end state. #

Step 6: Choose two intermediate states to lead from current to desired. #

Step 7: Elicit and anchor current state. #

Step 8: Break state. #

Elicit and anchor the first intermediate state.

Step 9: Break state. #

Elicit and anchor the second intermediate state.

Step 10: Break state. #

Elicit and anchor the final desired state.

Step 11: Break state. #

Take a short break.

Step 12: Fire the current state anchor and when it reaches its peak, release the first intermediate anchor. #

Step 13: Break state. #

Test. Initiate the original current state and move into the first intermediate state.

Step 14: Break state. #

Fire the current state anchor and when it reaches its peak, release the first intermediate anchor. When the first intermediate state reaches its peak, fire the second intermediate state anchor.

Step 14: Break state. #

Test. Initiate the original current state and move into the first intermediate state, and right away into the second intermediate state.

Step 15: Break state. #

Fire the current state anchor and when it reaches its peak, release the first intermediate anchor. When the first intermediate state reaches its peak, fire the second intermediate state anchor. When the second intermediate state reaches its peak, fire the final desired state anchor.

Step 16: Break state. #

Take a short rest.

Step 17: Fire the first current state, and allow the client to go through all the states and end up at the final desired state. #

Step 18: Future pace. #
