This is a strategy that works well when the client is in distress but cannot express the feelings in words. The client will often say things like, “I am fatigued but I don’t know why,” or “I feel like something really bad is going to happen, but I don’t know what exactly.” Take your time with this strategy and be patient.
Step 1: Initiate a downtime state. #
Close your eyes.
Step 2: Take a few deep breaths. #
Imagine holding a plain white envelope. It was addressed to you and delivered to you directly.
Step 3: You open the envelope. #
You unfold the paper, and you instantly recognize the handwriting of someone you knew in the past. Recall the face of the person and imagine that you can hear their voice.
Step 4: Open your eyes, move both eyes to the uppermost right corner, as far as you can reach, hold for three seconds, and return them to their normal position. #
Close your eyes again.
Step 5: Take a few moments to read the letter, hearing the words in your head as if they were spoken by the person who wrote it for you, and accepting whatever your unconscious mind reveals to you. #
Step 6: When you’re done reading the letter, fold the paper and put it back in the envelope. #
Step 7: Take a few deep breaths and break state. #
Step 8: Ask, “Who sent you the letter? #
And what was the main message this person wanted you to know? "
