Mapping across refers to the process of transferring resources, skills, or positive states from one context or situation to another in the context of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). It entails applying a positive emotional or mental state to a situation in which you want to improve or change your experience.
Essentially, mapping across allows you to use your strengths and positive experiences in one area of your life to overcome challenges or negative emotions in another. It is a powerful technique for bringing about positive change by accessing and utilizing your own inner resources.
For instance, suppose you are very confident and self-assured when you are with your close friends. However, you lack confidence in professional settings, such as job interviews. You can apply the confident state you experienced with your friends to the job interview situation by mapping across. You will feel more confident and perform better during the interview if you do this.
