You can help a client enter a rapid TDS by asking, “What happens when you imagine X?”. For example, if the client says she would like to have a better relationship with her husband, you may ask, “What happens when you imagine yourself speaking and behaving within the story of a better relationship with your husband?” What do you feel? What do you do? What is your tone of voice? What do you see, hear, and sense? " This question can also serve to further explore a person’s desired outcome as a part of the well-defined outcome process. On many occasions, a client will come up with new insights as they play the scene in their mind. As they do so, it is a chance to use misdirection and hypnotic language to further strengthen the positive changes they wish to make.
