Adverbial Clauses, also known as Implied Causatives, are linguistic patterns used in NLP to indicate a causal relationship between two events or states.

By using time-related words like “since,” “when,” “while,” and “after,” the speaker implies that one event naturally leads to or is related to another.

By saying, “Since you are now breathing deeper, you can begin to relax even more,” the therapist connects the act of deep breathing with the subsequent state of increased relaxation.

These implied causatives instill a sense of inevitability in the listener and encourage them to accept the desired outcome.

Practicing these language patterns, as well as identifying Meta-Model violations, can improve communication skills, which is especially useful in public speaking.
