The process of filtering stimuli from the surrounding environment is the main idea behind focus sorting.

Clients fall on a spectrum between non-screeners, who sense a large amount of external information without weighing relevance or importance, and screeners, who selectively filter stimuli to reduce the need for total attention.

Non-screeners perceive their surroundings as complex and distracting, but they have a high level of understanding and value serenity and calmness.

Screeners, on the other hand, are selective in their awareness, may appear inconsiderate, value excitement and novelty, and focus on specific elements while potentially ignoring others’ emotional cues.

Understanding focus sorting allows us to recognize how people process and interact with the world around them.
