The term “idlewild” refers to the state of appreciating and finding solace in being in a location or situation with few activities or responsibilities. It is a brief respite from the constant demands of productivity and the pressure to always be on the move.

You may find yourself stranded in an enchanting forest, sitting by a tranquil lakeside, or even strolling through a peaceful garden in an Idlewild state, allowing yourself to simply be present and fully immerse in the beauty of the surroundings.

Idlewildness allows your mind to wander freely, free of the pressure to complete tasks or meet obligations. It allows your thoughts to meander, explore, and engage with the world in a leisurely manner.

It’s a place where you can daydream, appreciate the small details around you, and let your imagination run wild.

Imagine yourself in a state of idlewildness while riding a slow train through picturesque countryside, lying on a hammock gently swaying on a secluded beach, or even sipping a cup of tea while gazing out a window on a rainy afternoon.

When used in therapy, the Idlewild process allows you to tap into this state of idlewildness and reap its benefits.

It enables you to assist your clients in embracing the beauty of idleness, exploring their values, and visualizing desired outcomes that correspond to their inner aspirations.

You can help clients cultivate a sense of calm, promote self-reflection, and foster a deeper connection with their authentic selves by facilitating introspection and encouraging them to embrace idlewildness.
