The propulsion system in NLP is designed to assist clients in shifting their focus from an unpleasant current reality to a desired change.

It is a tool for developing an inner drive or motivation that propels them forward rather than keeping them stuck in the cycle of the problem state. At the top of the page, write a clear and concise statement that summarizes the outcome the client desires.

This statement should reflect what they want to see or experience in their lives. Inquire about the client’s current situation in relation to the desired outcome. Encourage them to describe how their personal experience differs from the desired outcome.

This raises awareness of the disparities between their current reality and their desired state. The triangle represents the client’s journey from where they are now to where they want to be.

Note the client’s responses to the question, “What must happen from right now to the desired outcome?” within the triangle.

What are the milestones or steps that must be completed before you consider your current reality to be aligned with the desired outcome?" This enables the client to identify the actions, decisions, or milestones that must be taken or met in order to progress toward the desired outcome.

List the experiences of internal resistance that the client may encounter or has faced in relation to their desired outcome on the left side of the triangle.

Limiting beliefs, doubts, fears, self-sabotaging patterns, or any other internal barriers that have hampered their progress are examples of these.

Note the internal resources that the client possesses or can develop on the right side of the triangle to overcome internal resistance.

These can be strengths, positive characteristics, empowering beliefs, supportive attitudes, skills, or any other internal assets that will assist the client in moving forward toward their desired outcome.

The client can become aware of potential obstacles and identify the inner strengths and abilities they can tap into to overcome those obstacles by acknowledging and listing the internal resistance on the left side and the internal resources on the right side of the triangle.

This approach assists them in developing a more balanced perspective and enables them to effectively utilize their internal resources throughout their journey.
