Because it is an innate tendency, a person’s predisposition has an effect on how they think, what they do, and how they respond to things. It is used to describe a tendency that is on its way to becoming a habit but hasn’t quite arrived there yet.

It can show up as a proclivity toward a specific way of thinking or behaving in the world. A problematic predisposition is one in which the client is aware that a specific preference or inclination is leading to undesirable outcomes or stunting development.

This awareness is required for the predisposition to be considered problematic. When something stands in the way of us achieving our goals, our happiness, or the happiness of those in our immediate environment, we have a problem.

Some problematic tendencies include, but are not limited to, being overly critical of oneself, looking for validation from outside sources on a regular basis, putting off doing the things that one needs to do, and sabotaging oneself.

It is essential to overcome problematic tendencies in order to experience growth and positive change.

When we take something that we enjoy or have a preference for and turn it into something that we dislike, we shift our perspective and open the door to the creation of new ideas and behaviors.

It releases us from the shackles of our preconceived notions, allowing us the freedom to experiment with new ways of thinking and behaving in the world.

By overcoming these tendencies, we improve our ability to make decisions that are in line with our values and goals, which ultimately leads to increased levels of happiness and success in a variety of aspects of life.

People are able to increase their self-awareness, form healthier thought patterns and behaviors, and progress in both their personal and professional lives when they address and transform problematic predispositions.

People are able to get out of their comfort zones and accomplish what they set out to do, which results in a life that is happier and more fulfilling for them.
